Title: Help needed Gm 10 bolt front axle

Hi. On passenger side i got a axle snap ring outside the locking hub.
On drivers side the axle snapring is under the locking hub.

Passenger side = Locking hub inserted then inner+outer snapring
Drivers side       = A brass washer+inner snap ring, Then locking hub+outer snapring.

Why arent both sides identical ? I would like to have both side axle snaprings outside my locking hubs.

Ive been trying to look in my manual, but it doesnt say any about one side is different.

My car is -82 silverado with the gm 10 bolt front axle. Manual locking hubs.

Both the driver side and passenger side should be the same. 

Have you looked at the repair manuals?  They can be found here:

Choose your year model and download. There will be an exploded diagram showing the front axle setup.
