Title: 454 BBC
Post by: Jschiele on March 28, 2013, 08:12:10 am
So the opportunity to purchase an old 454 complete with accesories for $600. Is that a resonable price for an engine that I plan to rebuild. The motor has been pulled, so I can't here it run. What should I look for to determine its worth??

Yeah its a complete motor with everything I go for it. Just inspect it for block damage as best as possible. But of course you need to try to talk them down more.

IMHO a complete 454 is worth $600 easily. Heck, you can get $400 just for a std bore bare block with little trouble.

a couple things to check is if its a dirty engine, like full of oil and grease, it might have a leak somehwere, but if its fairly clean (just like dirt and stuff) i would go for it. like kinda the common sense stuff u would wanna look for.
