Title: Starter Failing
Post by: Tazman on April 02, 2013, 08:54:13 am
I have have put over 110,000 mile on my truck without having to replace the starter.I have recently replaced the battery and also the alternator.About a month ago I had a grinding that occurred while starting, did not think much about it because it only happened that one time.Last night it did it twice before my truck started up.I believe the started is on its way out.Do any of you agree?
Thanks

maybe.........but do the standard "checking of connections" and not just a "looks" okay, get under the truck put your hands on the starter check the tightness of solenoid connections make sure your grounds are really grounded. If it continues use a multimeter at the solenoid with a helper and check for proper voltage. You want good clean connections.

Also check your flex plate while you are under there for wear marks.
