I am swaping a sbc for bbc and need to know what will I have to do for motor mount and frame mounts ? The truck is 86 c-10 2 wd.
-
Nothing
-
When I went to order the headers they said i needed to use bbc motor and frame mounts ?
-
The motor will bolt up..... But small block stuff obviously won't hold up to aggressive bbc right foot action. Just build accordingly to your use pattern. What I meant by nothing is you don't have to move crossmember etc.

I have no problem with the bigger is always better way of thinking. Just want to make sure i have all of the correct mounts for the swap. The header comp. said I needed bbc frame and motor mounts and Im not sure of the answer,

So the motor mounts are the same? Bell housing is different

no the bell housing is the same. My question are the mounts the same ? Frame mounts are more HD but block mounts are the different ?
-
Block mounts are different.
Give me a few minutes and I'll look up the GM part number for the engine side mount.
-
NOW thats the kind of help that i needed thank you!!!!!!
-
14067103 is the part number for the engine side mount.
Note: small block mounts will work, but if you use small block mounts your fan will rub your fan shroud at the bottom. The big block mounts are taller preventing this.
That p/n was used on the big blocks from 1973 up to 2002 in the Chevy/GMC 3500HD (GMT-400) with the big block engine. I don't know if it carried over into the GMT-800s with the 8.1L engine or not.

Part number is no longer valid. So the local GM parts dept. said. Not using fan shroud (elect. Fans) . Any ideas ?

Find a GM dealer that will do an obsolete parts search for you.
When GM discontinues a part the dealers have a certain period of time to return it for credit. If they don't return it within the time frame then they are stuck with it.
I have been able to get many 1991 Blazer trim parts for my '77 K-30 this way. Sometimes you can find the parts at a local dealership. Otherwise many dealers will ship it to you with a credit card.

The other option would be to find the parts at a swap meet. You can also run the small block mounts if the shroud problem isn't going to affect you.
