Title: Gauge cluster lights
Post by: Magic1 on April 15, 2013, 11:01:25 am
On my 82 Sierra I still have the original type gauge cluster with all the gauges working minus the gas gauge. The printed circuit still looks good and the bulbs all appear to be good but only a few of them closest to the gas gauge are working. Can anyone come up with an idea as to what may be the issue? I completely rewired the truck and bought a used cluster for it so I don't know if they worked to begin with. I haven't tried replacing them all yet but like I said, they all seem to have good looking filaments in them and don't look black like they're burned out.

Honestly I would swap the bulbs.  I have seen several clusters where all the bulbs are burned out except for 1 section.  Most recently, on a freightliner.  On that one, the only lights working were the ones around the tach.  It is usually very obvious if the printed circuit is bad.

Just my .02

Cheers!

If they aren't working I would move one that does work to the slot were one doesn't and verify that everything is in working order.
