new process A833 MM7/MY6 question 1986 Chevy K10 4x4 short bed
I just bought this truck about two weeks ago. It has RPO code MM7 inside the glove box. The transmission is the A833 4 speed overdrive. I have found a few pictures of this transmission and shifter over the internet. I have confirmed it has the correct transmission and shifter.
I'm looking to see if anyone has additional information on production figures or info on how many trucks with this transmission. It's my understanding that it's very few. I was hoping someone will have info or now of somewhere to locate this info.
I have a book that was published for Buick GS cars. I got this book for information for my GS car. It had this information that was obtained from GM with production figures on engine/transmission combinations produced. x amount 455 w/ th400 x amount 455w/ 4speed x amount 350 w/ th350 x amount 350 w/ 3 speed .....etc
Please let me know if any info on this MM7 production. Thank you.

I myself have wondered. No hard figures but I read somewhere that 0.6% of C/K 10 had them. Very rare indeed. I have only seen 1 in person. I purchased specifically because it had that set up.

I have been around a zillion 73~87(91) Chevy trucks and I have never seen one.
The oddest truck I ever witnessed was a 1987 2WD long bed 1/2ton with a fuel injected 4.3L V6, and TH400 from the factory.

My cousin and I went to look at the truck. I already have a few trucks but it's a BAD ADDICTION a man ought to be able to draw a check for being CAR CRAZY ...it's truely a sickness. I've been buying cars since 16 years old. I've still got all but 5 of them. ....anyway My cousin said that's a 4 speed overdrive truck. I had never seen one and he had only seen one in his life. I bought the truck because good running truck and was odd bird. I got to checking on trans info for overdrive in truck. It seems to be extremely rare combination. I looked and the truck codes in glove box has MM7 code for 4 speed trans. I thought man it really is different that someone didn't just change over the years. Everyone I talk to say they never have seen one. I like having something a little different lie my old car picks.
I've got an 87 V10 short bed 4x4 with 350 w/ granny 4 speed sm465 that I've had for several years. I've seen these more so in long bed trucks but in a few short beds.

That is VERY common. In fact all of the 4.3L's came behind the TH400 if you got a 3 speed, as the TH350 was replaced by the 700R4.
The A833 was an unpopular option on these trucks as they were weak when compared to the SM465 and were prone to leaking. Most of these trucks got 700R4's.
