Title: seal for vent window glass in the glass holder.
Post by: fiddler on May 13, 2013, 12:17:14 am
I saw on a parts breakout a seal that goes between the glass and the frame on the vent window for my 1974 chevy Stepside.  (c10).  Now I a not talking about the 2 main big seals but the little one that appears to come with a new piece of glass.  Does anybody know where to purchase just the seal?  Mine is old and decrepit and the vent window appears to have been glued.  I am replacing the big seals, but don't want to leave this little guy out.  The glass will slide right out of the frame right now.
Thanks in advance for any help!

The sealer between the actual vent glass and the vent window metal frame is, if I remember correctly, the same stuff the glass shops use to mount the side windows into their metal tracks.  Most auto glass shops should be able replace the seal fairly easy.

I know this is an old thread, but it still comes up in the search.  The gasket is just a flat piece of rubber that wraps the edge of the glass.  The whole gasket-wrapped portion is inserted into the sash.  I just bought this very item.  Check the major companies.  One of them is the one I bought mine from.  Now if they will just start producing the sash . . .
