Title: Vent Window divider Original Stainless Steel Color
Post by: fiddler on May 15, 2013, 12:13:37 pm
So I started to "just" replace the weatherstripping on my door windows, to include vent windows.  When I removed the divider I started cleaning and derusting.  I cleaned the "rust" (if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck) from the stainless steel on the outside of the divider.  Does anybody know what that looked like originally?  I could just paint it or shine it or gun blue it or???

Any ideas?

Thanks much

Except for the actual vent latch, I've always painted the dividers and vent window frames a semi-gloss black.

Thanks much for the reply.  I was leaning in that direction and now you have pushed it way past center!  Painted Black it shall be. What semi gloss do you use?  I got some duplicolor black at auto parts store but it's shiny.  I was thinking shiny inside and on the wing window channel, and semi gloss on the stainless.  Thanks again.

For spray can paint, I've mostly used Rustoleum. Maybe others will comment on the subject.
