Title: New from Texas
Post by: badbowtie572 on May 28, 2013, 11:53:09 am
Hello all.  I have been digging around the internet for quite some time looking for info on an ls swap for the 84 GMC I have had since I was in highschool.  Its time to fix it up and get it running again.

I plan on pulling it out of the shop this weekend where it has been sitting since hurricane Rita.  I will take a few pics then.  For now its a gold colored short wide with one rust spot behind the driver rear wheel well and a small dent in the very front of the passenger front fender.  Its a pretty clean little truck that started life as a 305/th350.  When i bought it someone had transplanted a 454/th350 into it which the 454 made short work of. I installed a th400.  As it sits now it has no motor in it. Its sitting on two rear bald tires (part of the reason the motor is out of it).  I have decided Im going to do an LS install with 4l80e.  Im in the process of gathering info on ls installs as well as 4l80e rebuilds.  Im going to have to convert the 4l80e from 4wd to 2wd as I bought it for another truck.  Im not sure what direction im going to go with the rest of the truck.  I dont know if I plan to turbo or go all motor in the future, turbos sure are fun though.  I would like to do a pro touring themed truck that can I drive and work on at the same time.  Would like it to handle better maybe a 4link rear and front coil overs.  Seems there is plenty out there for 68-72 model trucks in the handling department and not so much for 73-87.
