Title: Brake light issue
Post by: timthescarrd on June 08, 2013, 03:18:28 pm
So on my 83 K10, the drivers side brake light will not light up, I have checked the bulb, the turn signal works(high filament), as well as the tail lights (headlights on, low filament) but the hazard flasher does not and neither does the brake light. everything works properly on the passenger side so I assume the flashers and the brake light switch are working.

I replaced the turn signal switch recently, could this be causing the issue even thought the turn signal works?

Check all your grounds first thing.

And then check all the connectors.  Almost all automotive electrical failures are 1) bad ground or 2) bad connector.

I am having a brake light issue as well. My tail lights work but when I press the brakes nothing happens. Any suggestions?

There's a switch on the pedal bracket that activates the brake lights.  They are notorious for stripped threads, backing out, bad connector, etc.  Most other problems will cause other stuff not to work as well.  Check that switch first.
