Title: a different type of fuel guage problem
Post by: Evoke on June 18, 2013, 10:22:05 pm
alright, for starters I bought a 78 c10 Frankenstein and the fuel guage was working fine. I think. when I got the truck it had a half tank which registered correctly. I've owned the truck a few weeks now and haven't driven it that much. just for testing purposes. today I pulled the dash pad out and repainted the pad and the dashboard. as I was putting the pre-installed CD player back in I went to start the truck and noticed the fuel guage was out sitting at a 1/4 past the full mark. when I started it dropped to full but when the key is off it goes back to 1/4 past full. I pulled the dash back apart but to no avail. I think it might be a bad ground under the dash but I can't find anything. any insight on what might have got knocked loose under the dash?

Pretty sure this is normal.  It only reads true fuel amount when the truck is running.  I will check the next time I get in mine and let you know.
