Trying to tackle one small issue at a time, and today it was polishing the badly faded filler panel on the tailgate. Part of that was also re-attaching the piece that fills in around the handle. I saw when I removed the panel, that this part was originally attached with what appeared to be a thick strip of glue. What would you all recommend to attach this with now? I tried carpet tape, simply because it was all I had that would potentially do the trick, which of course it did not.
In addition, the black on the chevrolet emblem is worn off on the tops and sides of the letters. What would be the best way to re-paint this to keep the parts that are supposed to be chrome clean? I assume it's not just the face of the letters, but the raised edges as well. I don't imagine this will be an easy task, but I thought someone might have a shortcut.
Thanks!
Jim

Do you have pics?

Won't let me load them - says the file is too large and I don't know how to change that. I picked up a tube of GE Silicone II ... I used that to reattach the reflector part of the taillights when refurbishing them, so I hope that will hold.
