Title: when did the silverado start

I have an 87 shortbed with Silverado badges, but when I go to get parts they never show it on the computer. is it a half year? or what?

Silverado is for the top of the line trim.  There was the base line Custom Deluxe and the intermediate which was Scottsdale.  Going for parts you need to know that it is a 1987 R10 if it is a 2 wheel drive or V10 if it is a 4x4

It wasn't until like 2000 that Silverado became a model for Chevrolet.  Before that it was just a trim package.

1999 is when the truck was changed to Silverado.  Before it was C/K and from 88-91 for the transistion year it was R/V, and in 99-01 it was Classic or something like that.
