Tips for removing the gas tank? - 1987 Silverado
Two issues...
1. Gas gauge isn't reading correctly.
When I fill it up the gauge read about 1/3 full. When she's empty it reads just under 1/4 on the gauge. So while I can monitor when I'm getting low I'd like to get the gauge to work correctly. Not sure if this is the sending unit or the gage or something in-between.
2. Want to install a set of Super Hoops
Wife has a hard time getting into the truck and bought me a set of Super Hoops. The passenger side looks like a pretty easy install but to mount the mounting bracket it looks like the gas tank will need to be removed.
Any tips or suggestions?

I believe there's 8 bolts holding the fuel tank on (4 on each side) I think I had to stick a wrench between the tank and frame to hold the bolt while I used a ratchet on the back side of the frame. This will unbolt the bracket holding the fuel tank. As far as the hoops I have no experience

Tip- empty the tank

Tip #2 - don't forget the ground strap.
And wear some eye protection. Speaking from experience on that. ;)

you can used an impact wrench or something to remove the bolts quickly.. and to lower it i like to use a floor jack...
