Title: springs,control arms or spindles?

I have a '77 gm short box half ton that is completely stock.  I want to drop the front end about 3 inches but am not sure what to use.  From my understanding springs can only drop it about an inch without having alignment problems and spindles will give you the stance but you could have serious and significant wheel interference problems(I want to use 15" rims).  What about control arms?  Do you need both upper and lower or will just a lower control arm do the job?  Do the control arms tuck the tire in the wheel well more than the factory ones?  I want to make sure I do this right and not cheap out and then have to buy something else anyway which will cost even more.

I put a set of Summit Racing/Ground Force 3" drop springs on the front of my 74 C10 and haven't had ANY alignment or tire wear problems. Check out my webpage for pix.

I'll check it out, thanks.  Did the alignment shop have any problems?  Did they run out of adjustment?  How is the ride?

I guess I didn't explain it clearly: I didn't have to have an alignment. Everything sort of just "fell" into place. A good tip I picked up from my father in law is to drop the jack down quickly to seat the springs. You'd rather not have them seat on the road, as it could cause the steering wheel to jerk out of your hands. The guy at the alignment shop said the front end was aligned almost better than factory. I did notice that the slight "float" to the right side of the road disappeared, and the ride is a little bouncier, but i'll take a little bounce for the looks this thing gets. Hope this helps!

Isn't 77c15 (mike) the one who says he did the springs? He is still a regular on here, Right? I have a little trouble with the idea that the front wheels didn't have a bunch of negative camber once he was done. Hopefully he will come on & answer the questions. Lorne
