Tonight we replaced the sash on the Suburban tailgate window. The old one pretty much disintegrated and the window wouldn't move without someone keeping it level so it would not bind.
I replaced the sash and the two weather strip (or whatever they're called) at the top of the door where the window goes on. Now it seems like the weather strip is too tight. The window only goes up halfway then gets stuck. Before the weatherstrip was in place, the window moved up and down just fine. Do I need to lubricate the seals? Will the material eventually relax enough for the window to move more freely?

Ah ha! Found that we installed the outside weatherstrip wrong. The ends of it were inside the window track and apparently causing the window to bind the further up it went. We reset the weatherstrip and now it works great.
While we had the tailgate apart, we reset the latch/release mechanism. For the first time since I've owned the truck the tailgate latches and unlatches properly.
