Title: 400 small block help!!!
Post by: 87 V20 on August 03, 2013, 07:38:09 pm
I got my hands on a pretty good priced rebuilt(all stock) 400 sb out of a 72 impala, that's goin in my 87 v20. I have 350 vortec heads(which I know ill hafta have steam holes drilled) with the intake thatll bolt to both the new heads and my tbi set up,headers with true duals and glass packs,  and was gonna pick up a rv cam also..any ideals/pointers on this build.  Im really wantin to go for more of a haulin truck cause I use round the farm and pullin a good size equipment trailer, but also want it to have a litte hp so i don't get left behind haha...and would anybody know about how much hp/torque this would make..give or take.

For that setup, maybe Comp 12-304-4.  Dyno simulator gives 300 hp @4000 and 475 ftlb @2500 (nice!), with only a .406 lift, which is easy on valvetrain components.
