i have a 77 k-10 with a swapped in 350 crate engine of an unknown year. i need to get a fuel pump for it, but honestly unsure of what year to ask for. i've heard that it doesn't matter with a 350 engine. so i was wondering if that was true or not. i don't have an old pump to take in to get any numbers off of

think all that matters if it has two or three connections one for inlet one for outlet and the third is for return. check to see if you have two hoses just hanging out where the pump would go

the previous owner, had an electric fuel pump bolted to the inner fender with a gas can sitting on top, of it. he told me the fuels lines are missing all the way back to the tee. in which honestly i had not had a chance to really look at the truck, so i'm pretty much have to built it from scratch. but at the same time, i want it to look original

well for the most part, but im not sure if some years may only have 2 post on the fuel pump while others have 3

Match the fuel pump to the senders in the tank and the year of the vehicle. If the senders have two hose nipples, purchase a fuel pump for a 1977 K10 w/350 that has one hose nipple for the inlet and an inverted flare fitting for the steel line to the carburetor. If the senders have three hose nipples, purchase a f/pump for a 1977 K10 w/350 that has two hose nipples (1/4" and 3/8", respectively) and an inverted flare fitting for the steel line to the carb.
The 3/8" hose nipple on the sender is the 'supply' line to the f/pump. The 5/16" nipple on the sender is the 'vent' line to the vapor canister. A 1/4" line on a sender is the 'fuel return' to the tank. Not all chassis used the 1/4" return line.
The 3/8" hose nipple on the f/pump is the 'supply' from the tank. A 1/4" hose nipple on the f/pump is 'fuel return' to the tank.
The position or 'clocking' of the inverted flare fitting on the f/pump maybe important to routing the steel line to the carburetor around engine mounted accessories. Hence, purchasing for the year of the vehicle.
Purchase the f/pump before fabricating the lines, so the lines can be properly positioned for the configuration of the pump.
