Hey all,
Just wanted anyone who was looking or thinking about putting electric fans on their pickups I have just got mine on and they work.. how great on cruising im not sure yet, testing still to come!
But in the mean time, this is what i used:
Dorman 620-634 Fans, theyre rated at 1100 per fan with 5 amps of pull each fan.
These fans are for 02 and earlier year range camaro's/firebirds with the LS1 5.7, apparently the vettes of that year range as well. So I figure if it can cool an LS1 without as much air intake through the radiator as our trucks, then it can cool a 350 with ease. (still have to make sure lol)
Derale 16739 180 Degree Farenheit Single Stage Electric Fan Controller
This is an extremely easy install for these fans. Had no problems, hooked up the yellow (ign on/off switch source) to the distributor battery feed wire. Temperature attachment was different than in the picture and way easier to work with... hooked it up to the cooling port after the thermostat housing. It was a 2 prong connector, one wire for the relay and one wire to the distributor (ign on/off source) as previously stated. 180 degrees on, 165 degrees off.
Derale 13001 Plastic Rod Mounting Kit
Standard mounting plastic zips, would recommend more than the 4, probably put at least 6 in total at least just to support the fan kit, not that its that heavy but i'm sure it wouldnt hurt.
The actual wiring for the fan, it doesnt come with any. I got my connectors from a junkyard off a 99+ body style camaro with a v6.. you can also order online but junkyard is cheaper of course.

What's the price on this setup? Take note of the amp or voltage drop when these bad boys start up. This could be interesting.

will get yall some info soon on how well it works, my commute to work is 15 minutes with a couple of lights so im sure it will get its use... but just got the motor going again after putting new manifold/headers/carb on so I gotta get some stuff taken care of before its daily driveable again and i will definitely post updates.
As far as price goes, i got my stuff off amazon. 140 for the fans, 36 for the relay and harness w/sensor, 6 for the plastic rod mounts, and 10 bucks at the junkyard for the wiring connectors. so 190 bucks for the whole setup.

I got fans on my truck with a cadillac 472 and a 4 core rad from a diesel Scottsdale, fans are from a 94 dodge caravan with brackets and a relay wired to a switch, keeps it at 180 all day long romping on it and these motors make some heat, 4 core rad makes a big difference also, love having electric fans no complaints

Ill get some more pictures tomorrow and gonna get my throttle return on and get the exhaust welded up and the testing will begin!

I used a fan assy. from a Caddy Sevelle, something around a 2000. I've found that only one of the fans is really needed for the climate I'm in. I purchased a controller to turn the other one on/off, but haven't bothered to hook it up. Lorne

I just ordered my fan today. I am going to run a Flex-a-lite 398 Syclone as a pusher, with the Flex-a-lite 31149 adjustable temp controller. 2500 cfm.
I am not going to shroud it, because I want free flow of air when I am moving, which is all it should take to keep the 350 cool with that big radiator. I am hooking it up as a pusher because I want to get rid of fans and shrouds in the engine compartment for safety and for a clean look.
That should be all I need since I don't tow, I don't plow, I don't sit in stop and go traffic, I don't have A/C, and I don't do rock crawling. The thing may never come on at all.
I won't use the zip-ties through the radiator. I am going to get some L channel at Lowes and put a couple bars across the front of the radiator to mount it on.
I'll let you all know how it goes.

I know it's been some time since i've installed these, but I finally got my truck going after a headache of problems. I drove it to work yesterday!
So, my temp gauge doesn't work for some reason so I can't give exact temperatures on this setup. What i can tell you though is at idle, the fans kick on and move a lot of hot air from the radiator and they will kick off (its 185 on/160 off) So i know they'll work.
Anyways, driving to work they never came on, it was about 75 here yesterday and I caught a couple of lights. So all in all i'd say the motor doesn't get hot enough to set the fan off and i'd never hear it over the exhaust anyways. I'm pretty sure I put a 180 thermostat in it.
I will update this post in the summer when the Texas heat is out and the fans will most likely be worked.
As far as current pull, I didn't really notice any drop in current. Of course I just put a new 140A alternator in so....
