Title: no ecm fuses?
Post by: Pescados666 on August 26, 2013, 11:51:16 pm
I noticed that my 1985 suburban I recently purchased doesn't seem to have any fuses for ECMB or for ECM1.  Is there any reason for this and what all would it affect?  There's also no fuse in the gage/idle  fuse spot, a wire with an inline fuse jumping off of it.

I plan to go through all of the wiring soon to see what else was hacked.

Also, while I have you here, any idea WTH this could go to...?  It was just hanging around.  It has a yellow, grey and black wire. Will investigate this further as well.

That's the power connector for the stock radio, shown on the top of this page:

I think yellow is hot off the radio fuse in the block, black is ground, and grey is ignition.

All of the wiring diagrams are here:

Thanks :D
I was hoping that was what it was.  I just got a new stereo and was hoping I'd be able to easily hook everything up.  I was looking at those diagrams for a little while but fell asleep.

Also, found this while looking around

"Note the LL4/LT9/LE8/L25 engines do not use the ecm b or crank ecm 1 fuses"
maybe this is why...

Turned out that the grey is only 12v when headlights are on.  I jumped onto the circuit for the cigarette lighter for power.

Lucky me, all my ebay purchases for an attempt at a good stereo for cheap turned out to work!
Pioneer DEH-P5200HD with focal polykevlar 6.5" component speakers and JL audio TR690-TXi 6x9" for about $300 total isn't half bad :D

Ah, that's right.  The grey wire is to illuminate the dial when the lights are one.
