I have had a lot of classic cars and trucks. Al most all of them got a name or came with a name.
What is the name of your truck ?
My 73 F100 was painted bright eye splitting green and yellow, it got the name John Deere. The name stuck even after I sold it.
My 75 F100 got the name Lita, as in Lita Ford.
My 63 New Yorker cam with the name Grindelia and in the mother of Grendel from Beowulf.
The there was my $400 73 Dart green on green on green aka Ralph.
1979 Cordoba the roach coach, ever need a Florida palmetto bug ?
Best of all there was a friends 78 New Yorker Brougham 19' 6" of rust, aka Rusty Longfellow.
I'd like to hear what your trucks name is.

There has been a thread on hear about this, but my 74 step side 4x4 project is named "shaggy". Mainly for this reason.
I grew up on scooby doo and love the old cartoons. Also my wife likes to call me shaggy when I don't shave for a couple of days, her way of telling me to shave nicely.
-
Not much imagination here ;
The one ton is " The Ton "
75 4X4 is " The Plow Truck "
84 C20 4X4 is " Mom's Mad " ... Because She was mad that I bought it before discussing the purchase with her ;)

Mine are usually named after a song. My 96 f250 ext cab long bed was flat black and called The Night Train. My current truck is named Roxanne, red LEDs run along the side of the dump bed.

My grandpa was bore-d and raised in Morgan County KY. He was known as Black Sam Salyer [ black hair ] and there was a Red Sam Salyer[ Red hiar] in the next county.
Well old Grandad Black Sam never liked a " Yell-er" car or truck.
So I call my 73 c10 "Yell-er" in honor of him.
-
My 85 longbed came with the name "Uncle Jessie", I think his kids liked Dukes of Hazzard.
My 86 shortbed came with the name "Snow Ball", so I got a vanity tag "SNWBLL" and continued that one.
My daughters first car was "Cindy" the Civic.
I'll have to search for that other thread, this kinda stuff is fun to read.

My 82 c10 is "The Bruiser"
My 72 lark is "The Burnner"
What's under the hood??? If you have to ask maybe we shouldn't race...
-
My 81 K20 is the named "The Beast", just for the back that its massive, and sounds like a beast.
-
Those around me usually refer to my truck as "The Banana". I was thining of a getting a decal for the back window saying "Hot Banana". The profile pic says why :)
-
My Dad named mine "Arkansas" for two reasons. #1 is because that's where it came from. #2 is because it was a farm truck and he'd always end up with some "Arkansas" on his face and in his hair whenever he was underneath of it :)

When I got my truck its was named Big Red. I promptly painted it yellow and kept calling it Big Red. Then when I did a total rebuild, painted it yellow again, & being a plow truck put vanity plates on that said YELOSNO, Its name got changed to Yellow Snow. Kinda funny I meet someone new, and a lot of the time they know the trucks name, and or my name, but don't know me!

76 Silverado k20 camper special was (Snow Ball). but after this last weekends hunting trip. her name is (Nomad) because we got in to the mountains and of we go. i must of burned a tank and a half on old logging roads.

i never got around to naming my trucks but something always comes to mind about names. i know when im having trouble or talking about "her" i refer to her as baby. idk why but it seams like some others refer to their truck in the same tone as feminine. but then they put the truck "testicles" on their truck with a female name. making her a hermaphrodite (http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules/Forums/images/smiles/lol_hitting.gif)

I call my truck....."My Truck"
-
haven't thought of one yet.
-
Name a truck, why?
I know women that have named their cars or trucks but not any men.
-
We call my friend's '79 "Blacky". I have a tan and cream '77 that I called "Bucky". It hated that name and has given me heck ever since, now I call it "Christine". I now drive a black '80. I haven't named it, I'm afraid of pissing it off.

My '77 K-truck was known for years as "White Lightning". Its 396 made it pretty fast. The later 454 only added to the legend. White Lightning was eventually shortened to just "Whitey".
Now that I am painting it blue, the Whitey tag has been passed to my white '94 K2500.
The new name I have chosen for my '77 is "Maiden America". This name comes from a World War II B-17 Flying Fortress, and its equally evocative nose art.
The name Maiden America is a play on the words "made in America" which is fitting to my truck as I have been able to source US made parts for the whole build. :)
My '97 Blazer is "Blaze". Or "da Blaze" (said in a Tattoo -Hervé Villechaize- voice)
My '02 is Blackie. The wife's '01 is ol' Red.
-
Chevy C10 Suburban '80, called Urban, common Swedish name. :)
Chevy Corvette '71, 496 cui, called Raelette, or Ray for short.
Chevy van 6,2D '83, called Hugo the tax avoider, since in Sweden we don't pay tax for cars older than 30 years, and diesel cars has a huge tax otherwise.
Ford Model A '30, called Ella.
-
82 stepside, "REBEL SOUL"
-
ours came from Arizona, and its brown, so we called it the Coyote, then we called it the Desert Rat, but now that everytime we go to fix something simple it turns into a huge ordeal, its "Snowball"
-
my flatbed is "The Gray Goblin" named by my brother inlaw. i dont know how he came up with it but it stuck
my 2wd never got a name other than "in the way" while sitting in the garage for the last 2 years lol it might get a name sooner or later
ive always names my vehicles...
92 Corsica "The Intercorsica"
88 Mazda 323 "The Sexmobile"
94 Subaru Legacy "The Flexmobile"
94 Civic hatch "heck's Hatch"
94 Civic sedan "El Fordoro" (four door oh)
95 Civic coupe "La Couparacha"
-
My 87 F-250 has just simply aquired the name "the Diesel"
My 77 K-10 is "Francine"
My 86 K-20 up til recently I've called "Isamae" as it's lived it's entire life on a 300 acre farm, bought new by an old Farmer (my grandpa) and has NEVER been more than 35 miles from home that I'm aware of. However now that my grandpa is 95 and the three hip surgeries and mild dementia are getting the best of him, I find myself saying "come on Papaw" while trying to persuade it to start or creep up a hill. I have a feeling this will be what sticks after he passes.
My 69 C-30 and 1950 international 110 have yet to be named, as both have been sitting for decades awaiting me to take over ownership and give them new life.
However my favorite truck name to date would be my cousins MASSIVE 78 F-150 on 40" Ground Hogs with straight stacks named "Alma Fern" after his sweet but fearless neighbor lady.

I don't name my vehicles anymore but with that said I used to. So my current '75 4x4 shorty is called 'beat' with a lower case 'b' because someone or the factory had put 'Heartbeat of America' on the rear sides. The majority of the decals fell off but the 'beat' part on both sides is still intact. Hence it's name. It lives up to to that name too.
The only other truck I remember naming was my '78 4x4 shorty back in the '80's. It was called Taz (cartoon about the tazmanian devil by Loony tunes) because it was quick, nimble, and very seldom got stuck but was pretty socially unacceptable because it was loud. I didn't use any mufflers after the headers for a while and just ran 2-1/2" straight pipes to exit in front of the rear wheels, but I did have homemade expansion cans on it placed about at the rear of the t-case IIRC.

Hey everyone. I'm new to the site. And was looking at some of the older posts and and this one caught my eye.
Growing up, my dad had a 1973 K20 that he bought brand new. We named that Nellie.
When I first got married, my (now ex) father-in-law gave me his old farm truck. 1972 F250. Big and blue and rusty and ugly. But I loved that old truck. Named that one Old Blue.
Then I had a 1976 4X4 GMC Jimmy. That one wasn't all that original. Called it Jimmy, or Big Jim.
The 1989 F150 4X4 was Old Red.
The 1998 Dodge 4X4 was Blackie.
The 1979 K10 that I have now is King Neptune. My daughter named it. Don't know where she came up with that. But since she's my princess, I have to keep it.
And I also have a 1974 GMC Jimmy 4X4 that I was going to build with my son. But I live in Idaho. And he's now living in Arizona. It doesn't run yet. Needs a new crank and bearings. Thinking that I'll get it running this spring. And maybe he'll move back here so we can start the project we've always planned on doing together. But either way, I'm thinking I'll wait until the project is completed, or at least near completed to name it. Something appropriate will come up by then.
