Hey Everyone, I have a couple of questions..... Here goes.... A/C blows nice & cold, the problem is, when I turn it on the motor seems to idle very low in gear & in park. Also, when traveling it seems to cut in & out/bog down. Is this normal??? Also, I noticed the compressor gets very hot. Is this normal?? :-\

The compressor does get hot. The AC will bog down the motor and cause it to idle very if the idle stop solenoid is not there, is not working, or is not adjusted correctly. Does it have the original carburetor on it?

No carb, it's a TBI, sorry bout not mentioning that. Does a TBI have an idle stop? If so, where is it located? Thanks

I don't know if it does, sorry. I would think the computer should take care of it through the IAC. I am not a TBI guru by any means.

IAC compensation for idle load should be nearly instantaneous and appear seamless. The IAC threads into the right rear corner of the throttle body. It may be operating sluggishly. You can clean the IAC and its passageway with carb cleaner. But, be careful so as not to spray for too long a period. Spraying excessive cleaner too quickly will flood and overheat the catalytic converter, which can result in converter damage and the potential for converter caused fire. If the 'idle quality' problem persists, try replacing the IAC.
E/g else you've described about your A/C system seems normal.

your compressor barrings could be getting worn adding to you problems. a new a/c pump clutch might not be a bad investment.
