Title: my chevy AT / MT swap
Post by: 82silveradodeluxe20 on September 22, 2013, 10:23:32 pm
so guys ,

i took on my moms silverado project and it has turned in to my build for a personal truck .
its a 3/4 ton 82 with a ls 427 BBC engine and five speed trans. nothing fancy nothing pretty.

i recently crashed a factory 454 gmc 1500 1/2 ton pick up and got the intact 454 out of it for my silverado since the 427 needs a ring.
the 1500 gmc was auto trans Th400 and Monte Pratt two piece driveline to a ten bolt rear axle . nice truck while it lasted . since the 82 silverado has a MT i have to grab a 454 168 tooth flywheel, pilot bushing, clutch disk, and, pressure plate as well as a clutch release bearing . to make the swap .  Unfortunately the internally balanced 427 cam prevented me from making that 427 168 tooth flywheel bolt to this 454 ....or not without a decent amount of vibrations that would ruin the motor.  so i got the heavy duty replacement fly wheel with the ring ,the clutch kit, and, a new set of header gaskets .. can anyone see if I'm missing anything here that's going to hamper me from getting this truck back together and operating ?

header gaskets , fly wheel w/ ring gear, clutch disk is standard 10 spline 12" disk, and, pressure plate a throw out bearing pilot bushing and a bit of grease?  sound right ........? pictures will be posted as soon as i get em taken .  thanks!

I'm not completely sure that the trucks were made the same way but Don't forget to make sure the threaded stud for the clutch arm is still on the block or at least in your possession.
