Title: 60's to 72 Rear Torque arm suspension in a 82 LWB?
Post by: CanadianC10 on September 29, 2013, 05:05:34 pm
sup fellas, thinking about savin a couple bucks and swapping in the torque arms from a 68 c10 I have down back, these are an ideal suspension with adding some strength to the arms themselves..

so someone tell me, has it been done before, as far as I know the frames are the same width behind the cab where the crossmember is..

What does it matter if it has been done before?

I say if you want to do it go for it. Let us know how it turns out.

If it hasn't been done before and you are the first people can look to you for the lead.

Do your homework, I think it will make a great project.

The area where the front crossmember would go is the same width, however the earlier truck frame with the arm/coil springs step inward about 3" shortly behind that area. This won't effect anything except if you are wanting to use the spring mounts, shock mounts, panhard bar & rear end housing from the early truck without ANY modifications. Going to coil-overs & a home-made (should be done anyway due to the shortness of the original) panhard bar should solve most of the hurdles. Lorne

Yeah I see what your saying, this truck is going to be a true hot rod, it has a big the biggest factory engine you'll find and a factory suspension chopped up, can't wait , doing the body work now
