Post by: Tazman on September 30, 2013, 10:15:03 am
I found a new leak on my 87 Silverado. It has started to loose fluid from the steering box.Can the gaskets be replaced on this or do I need to replace the box?

Pitman arm seals are pretty easy to change.  Check to make sure you don't have any side to side play or the new seals won't last long

Power steering boxes can be rebuilt if as Zieg said that is the only problem.  Here is an example of the kits and price.  http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search.oap?year=1987&make=Chevrolet&model=R10%2BPickup%2BRWD&vi=1059825&keyword=steering+pump+rebuild+kit (http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search.oap?year=1987&make=Chevrolet&model=R10%2BPickup%2BRWD&vi=1059825&keyword=steering+pump+rebuild+kit)
