It is much simpler to just Z the frame, or notch the crossmember.

What do you mean by Z the frame? im not familiar with that term.
-
You cut the frame in front of the firewall and raise the whole frontend section up and reweld it back together. Doing a Body drop is ridiculous when you can just Z the frame. 1/2 as much work and little fabrication. Most do a bodydrop because it is a catch phrase. Long time ago it was called channeling.
Here is good info on Z'ing. It has been around for over 50 years.

thanx, now i see what you were saying, its basicly a stock floor bodydrop, cause your not loozing any head room, i think ill try that ,but one question. do you still have to raise the bed?
-
Well, the body isn't "dropping", the Frame is getting cut, which is what is called Z'ing the frame. As for the bed, it depends on how/how much you are dropping it.

better to notch crossmember.....rear is of course the easier of the 2 to lower. I just have 3" Bell tech spindles, cut one coil from big block springs, rear Bell Tech flip kit and some leaf springs removed.

the sits lower then the body so the rockers would be like 2 or 3 inches off the ground
just pull the inner fender dosnt set tthe rockers on the ground

i plan on sfbd'ing mine 3 1/4" soon...i was going to build a complete frame firewall back but ditched that idea
