Title: Lokar throttle/TV cable kit
Post by: Fairlane514 on October 15, 2013, 09:50:58 am
Has anyone installed the Lokar throttle and TV cable system on their carbureted engine with a 700R4?   My 84 has never been right with the factory TV cable and my gas pedal feels hard even though the cable moves easily within the housing. The return spring is very light, so thats not the problem.

Every time I go to WOT it will "adjust" the TV cable and then the transmission shifts wrong (it is the correct cable). Then I have to manually adjust it back. I have been everywhere I can with the adjustment, so thats why i'm considering something I can "tune," such as the Lokar.

I haven't ever used the aftermarket, are you using a factory Qjet and linkage brackets?  I haven't had any issues with the factory TV cable.

I was using the original Qjet and factory bracket with the correct TV cable and had no kick down. As far as the transmission is is in good shape with a shift kit by Superior.

I now have a new style Street Demon carburetor (625 cfm), it looks like an old thermoquad. I bought the bracket they designed for the 700R4 and it lines up level and pulls straight. I do have a 3/4 inch phenolic spacer for vapor lock issues.

The TV cable acts the same with both carburetors.

Set it to max and see what it does.

If I leave it at max pull when "adjusted" by flooring the gas pedal, it has the stacked early shifts
