Title: lowering the rear
Post by: 73stepside on February 26, 2006, 04:03:00 pm
I have a 73 stepside C10 with 2in. dropped shackles and hangers. The leafs are about 2 years old and originally had 6 leafs.I dont haul heavy loads anymore since I completly restored the truck. If I had it to do over,I probably would have gone with a flip kit.My rear tires are 255 60 15.I had since removed 2 leafs from the pack. Each time my ride actually got smoother, and I gained little drop maybe an inch( i never took the time to measure, but I could tell it did drop a little).I would like another 1 or 2 inch drop to where the top of my tire is even with the bottom of  my fender well.Should I remove any more leafs? Is the bottom fat leave one that should not be removed? Thats the one I was thinking of removing.I haul a 5x7 trailer to the landfill occationally, not to heavy, just trash or tree trimmings.Any input would be appretiated.

I would get a belltech flip kit before you take out anymore leafs.

How many leafs total do you have now?
You can remove the overload with no problems, I personally wouldn't go less than 4 leafs on a 7 leaf pack.

If you want to go lower, you could get a set of rear shackles, but you will probably need to clearance the bed for them.
