My 86 silverado just all the sudden started not idleing good and hard to start. When it does start and I put it in gear I have to keep giving it gas or it cuts off. It was running just fine, I added antifreeze to it then this happened. That's the only thing that has changed. Any ideas? Thanks

How low was it on antifreeze? Hope it's just bad gas... was it overheating?
What's under the hood??? If you have to ask maybe we shouldn't race...

is it hard to start hot and cold?

1. Are your vacuum lines all hooked up ok?
2. Any chance that your thermostat might not be working correctly? Here's a thought I have-
A faulty thermostat is either stuck closed or open. If it's stuck open, the excess flow of the new coolant mixture may not allow the temp sensor to respond correctly. That means the ecm, which uses the temp sensor signal and O2 sensor to determine fuel needs, sends a signal to the mixture control solenoid in the carb to adjust itself for a rich mixture. So your idle is affected.

Wasn't overheating or real low on antifreeze. It starts ok when it's warm. Just doesn't idle good and almost dies when I put it in gear and not very quick to take off at stops.

Id use a vac gauge and start with the idle screws that'd be my first guess.
