I have been wanting to repaint my C 1500 a factory style two tone. let's see what everybody else is rocking, I want to see as many pics as I can, doesn't have to be yours. Can you help?
-
My 81 K20

looks good, thank you. I can't decide whether I want to go with the upper and lower two tone, or the stripe down the side. choosing paint has got to be the hardest decision when building a car or truck

True. Especially when you have a blank slate to work with and you think "hmmm...I could have this any color I want".
-
I have always loved the red with the cream center stripe. My aunt had one years ago and I almost bought one when I was looking for mine. However, I've fallen in love with the light blue metallic and white of the one I did find. Here's a link to some pics.

thanks for the pics, my interior looks exactly the sam as yours, minus the seat. I do think I want to stick with some sort of blue so it will match my interior. I was actually considering some sort of light blue and a white.
-
Yeah that seat sucks - it's fairly comfortable, but I've always been partial to cloth. Nevermind the fact that it sags very badly towards the driver's door - not fun making right turns! At any rate, if you decide to go with the light blue, let me know I'm sure I can get you the color codes. As for white, make sure you go with GM BRIGHT white - the regular white is actually somewhat yellowish and is nowhere near as sharp in the end.
-
thanks, but I doubt I end up going with factory paint codes. I like to have mine a little different than everyone else. although GM did put out some really good looking color combos on our square body's

Both of my trucks have the almost bare bones two tone, white on the cab and primary color everywhere else.
Here's my '74 K10.

thanks Jason, those are some great looking trucks. super clean. I kinda dig just the white roofs
-
Thank you Johnny walnuts. I have always liked the mid level trim and paint options, myself.
Have you posted any photos of truck? I didn't find any, but the little caption photo looks like dark blue with white on the bottom?
I'll just say that growing up, we had a dark blue '86 GMC Suburban that was monotone. I had thought and still think that dark blue with white below the belt molding would've been a very sharp combination... Basically what 81_Chevy has but reversed... or the same combo jrbarrie83 has on his caption photo but with a dark blue...
-
I have tried to put pictures on here using my phone but it says they are too big. I need to get on the computer at home and upload some though. My 84 is midnight blue with silver on the roof and down low.
-
Oh, and surface rust on the hood.

Those are so bad! I have those wheels on my K20 and have been debating about getting new ones. I think I'll keep them...

when i first got the truck a 1983 k10 silverado and its now in process of preparing for paint. It will soon to be a blue on upper half and then a rock guard on the lower section from taillights down in a silver.

LOL

Haha, thank you zieg85. I will consider that idea

Johnny,
From the avatar, your pickup and mine have the same paint scheme. I am gonna try to stay with a similar color setup. Blue on top and med gray to charcoal on bottom, from body line down. Probably all blue inside.
-
Oops I forgot the picture. I took one of my son's Hotwheels pickups and painted it with my daughter's finger nail polish. This is the third paint job it has had. I find it works great to get an idea on what it will look like. It can be removed with fingernail polish and start over again. The pic is too big. I'll add it with my phone.

What a great idea!!! I love it. Now I just need to go find a 73-87 hot wheels. I think I will use something other than my wife's finger nail polish though, I don't really feel like a pink truck kinda guy.
-
Another idea, probably easier, is to get some model paint from a hobby store.
-
That's kinda what I was thinking, I also just ordered a hot wheels Silverado off eBay.
-
how much did ya pay for it? thinkin of making a mini model of my truck to put on the dash ;D
-
$4.25 with shipping
-
Here's blue before I had the same thought of "blank canvas"...Would have kept it two tone but it also cost more...but paint is temporary and this truck was sprayed in the back of co-op. Next time I will drop 5-7k and make her look like this again..

25 Mariner blue metallic and a light blue. Like it very much.
