Since I replaced the 305 in my '85 K10 with a later model 454, I am trying to install the cruise control that was originally on the 305.
Has anyone else performed this task, or possibly have pictures of how to mount the unit on the 454? Do I need a different bracket than was used on the 305?
I am using a 4150 Holley carb.

My scan of the Cruise III service training manual is in the tech section.
Cruise III is a fairly complex system so, if you're missing pieces, you may need to find several donors.

Without having full knowledge of how your cruise was originally set up and whether or not I fully understand what you're missing, I don't know what help this is, but here goes. My '83 K-10 and '86 Olds 442 both have the same (as far as I can tell) cruise system. The difference is the Chevy is mounted to the rear on the firewall, the Olds is mounted on a bracket on the front of the engine. When I bought the olds, it had an edelbrock carb on it and was missing the arms and attaching pieces for the cruise. I found the pieces I needed at the junk yard, but had to buy an adapter to attach it to the linkage - I think my dad found it at AutoZone or PepBoys or Advance ... I'm sure just about any of these would have it. I have since replaced the edelbrock with a Q-jet, and didn't need the adapter anymore. Luckily I still had it, however, since when I bought the Chevy it had the same issue. The adapter fit just fine on it's edelbrock carb as well. Since the arm for the cruise connector is adjustable, and there should be sufficient places on the carb linkage to attach an adapter, it shouldn't be too difficult. As for a mounting bracket, I would assume it will be a matter of checking for adequate space and searching the junk yards for one that might work. I can take pics of how both of mine are set up if it would be of any help.

I'm not 100% sure the 305 mount will work on the 454.

On my '83 the vacuum servo is mounted on the throttle cable bracket. Is that the same location for yours? From there its just a chain to the throttle linkage.

My 83 is the same as nthefamily said. You need the correct stud on the carb as well. You may be able to mount in a hole in rear of head but the angle may be off.

The servo on mine was mounted to a bracket that was attached to the throttle and tranny kickdown bracket. This entire setup was then bolted onto the intake and back of driver head I believe. There was a rod that attached to the Qjet.
Since I am using a holley, I had to buy another throttle/kickdown bracket.

I would invest in an aftemarket one if you plan to actually use it. The factory ones were not that good.

If you're handy... the K34 GM cruise module found in the 88-01 T400 CK chassis can be used as a retrofit unit.
The mechanical 68-81 Cruisemaster systems are a pretty easy retrofit as well.
