There is a 1976 Chevrolet truck for sale that I am going to look at this weekend. It has had one owner and has 19,000 miles on it. It is supposedly in mint condition and looks "like it just came off the show room floor." It does not have AC and they are asking $12k.
Is that a reasonable price if the truck is as they say? How $$ is it to add AC? I really want an older truck to pull my vintage camper. Thanks!

my friend used to have an 82 c10 that had only 25,000 miles on it and it was in mint condition and only wanted 3500 for it... depends on the person i guess. and its not to cheap to add a/c unless you get a donor vehicle.

IMO; you should show up, be blown away by how clean and solid the truck is, and everything should run like a top. Then offer him $10k.

In my opinion, there's a bit of research that ought to be done beforehand. Additionally, what kind of weight is the vintage camper?
First, what engine/transmission/rear axle combination? Based on your objectives of towing a camper, this could very well make or break any deal.
Second, does the owner have records that establish a plausible mileage? Can you post any photos?
Third, have you looked on ebay, craigslist (multiple listings throughout several cities), autotrader (and vintage auto trader), swap meets, etc. to compare/establish market value for that particular truck with its' options?
To add air conditioning can cost up to several thousand dollars; depending upon new/used (or refurbished used) parts, installation of factory style or aftermarket style, etc. Several of the add on aftermarket type A/C units do not keep the interior in a vintage/factory look.
All in all, if the truck is good for you, then it ultimately depends upon if $12,000 is a good price to you...

yes take some pictures of it inside and out. post them on here we will help you out if we think its a good buy. but 12k is a little up there for the truck unless your sure its work it. there is someone on here thats also selling their truck for 6k. but you have to have a few more post before you can see it.
