Title: What to expect in the 1/4?
Post by: Carlosg254 on November 17, 2013, 07:40:20 pm: Well we're finishing up the cam swap and really been wanting to take it to the track, so i wanted to know what I should expect in the 1/4 mile,
This is what I have

355 sbc
Holley 4bbl 750cfm
Carb spacer
Performer intake
64cc aluminum heads
2.02 intake 1.6 exhaust valves
1.6 rockers
Comp cam xfi Adv. 268/280
@50 224/231 .520/.515 113
Comp pro magnum lifters
Longtube headers
Flowmasters with 2 1/2 in pipe

The transmission is a 700r4 and stock as far as I know
And the rear end is also stock

So what should I expect to run in the 1/4 mile and what are some mods or upgrades I could do to get more power and torque ?

Post by: 1bad72 on January 09, 2014, 07:28:04 pm: Depending on your rear gear ratio, and rpm range of the cam I'm going to guess low to mid 14's (conservatively) I had a 78 swb with a 355, th350 w/2500 converter and a 12 bolt with 3.54 gears and the best I got out of that was a 14.48 et. depending on the spacer (4 hole, open aluminum, wood) you would be shocked at the difference in power you get/lose. If you did not rebuild the bottom end with upgraded parts, and if you bought the truck and the PO did not brag about having the bottom end upgraded, then it is most likely stock.
People will always use a pumped up motor for a selling point and would not let a chance go by to tell you it is upgraded to show how good of a deal you are getting.

Post by: SUX2BU99 on February 03, 2014, 09:50:23 pm: I have a somewhat similar setup. Gears and tire size will be big deciders in what you run. Best I've run is 14.88 at a sea level track but I'm hoping to tweak and tune a couple more tenths out of it.
