It should be a SM465 if it's the granny-low 4-speed manual trans.
-
Do you have a picture of the shifter? If it has a granny LOW it is a SM465, otherwise it could be the Overdrive trans.
-
yep its got the granny low is a SM465 thanks guys !!! its getting pulled iv ben driving it for a year with 1st gear out of it ... ugh its sad im getting real good at driving it shifting from granny to 2nd .. here is the problem is if I can even manage to get it in first then as soon as the cluch engages it pops out ...

The A833 MY6 overdrive is a rare option and only used on 2WD.

The A833 4 speed manual with overdrive (MM7) was standard on the C Series with a Diesel, optional on gasoline
It was standard on 4x4's when a diesel was NOT selected and optional when one was selected.
The MM7 was offered from 1983-1987, and it wasn't a popular option. The manuals never reference MY6, but I believe it is the 4x2 designation.
Here is bake74's with the transfer case attached to it...

Does anyone even use 1st gear in the 465 on the street? I never did but I must admit I hate that transmission for a multitude of reasons.

A buddy of mine had to use it to take off in his truck..he got his thoughts backwards and instead of building a firewood hauler with low gears, he built it with absurdly high gears..higher than 2.73's, and ran it with 35" tires..on mildly steep hills unloaded, you had to shift the np203 into low, take off in granny low, crawl into second, and when you topped out third, slip the trans into neutral, transfercase into neutral, double clutch, transfer case into high, transmission into second, and go back through the pattern...royal pain that resulted in the truck getting repo'd by a personal loan company.

I had no idea GM used that gearbox on 4x4 rigs. Probably as rare as any square option.
MM7 4wd A833 OD.
MY6 2wd A833 OD.
