Title: Replacement Panel Reviews
Post by: hondarider188 on November 22, 2013, 06:48:07 pm
On my 1983 k10 i want to replace the driver side door and the drivers side fender. I found these ones online and they seem to be the best deal i can find.http://www.classicparts.com/Doors/products/997/ (http://www.classicparts.com/Doors/products/997/) and here http://www.classicparts.com/Fender/products/399/ (http://www.classicparts.com/Fender/products/399/). so i was just wondering if anyone has used them before and how good of quality they really are and also how well they fit up to the truck and match. thanks

The doors are typically junk, sorry to say. I bought a pair end absolutely could not get them to fit if my life depended on it, they were that bad. The more you pay, the better quality you will get....so yes it's a good price, but even then i'd still rather pay more and get a better quality product the first time. Check out the Goodmark doors sold on the online store here.

What is your expectation on the fenders?
Do you plan to remove the one that was fitted to the truck when it was being built and bolt on one that wasn't and expect it to fit in the same place?
Do you have any experience aligning body panels?
Regarless of what you purchase aftermarket (there are some that are much better than others) there is a limited number of manufacturers and several places use them.
Typically all 81-91 fenders are not "improved", a number of 73-80 fenders are "improved" with better tolerances, but you pay for them.
Doors, are typically not improved.

Our major parts are sourced from TriPlus, which stamps all the general and "improved" parts.

thanks, that is why I started this thread because I had heard of some being better than others and that the cheap ones do not line up well. so I think I will just wait and buy the ones you sell here capt. And no I don't have much experience with lining up body panels, but my grandfather does auto body for a living and he has been a huge help with the process.
