I'm 6'4 300 plus... Any[ seat mods??? I do not have tilt... I have a smaller steering wheels
-
Tilt well make a world of a diff. I miss mine so... IM 6ft 2in with a bench seat all the way back tilt was the best thing that happened to my truck
What's under the hood??? If you have to ask maybe we shouldn't race...
-
You didn't mention the year of your truck but the 1985 and newer seats have thinner backs to them.
-
Its a 78..will they bolt right in ?
-
Yes the seats are a direct bolt in. The most room I have had was from a 91 Suburban front seat. Granted it didn't tilt forward but it sure made it the roomiest of all. It was paired with a tilt wheel column and a 76 Camaro steering wheel
-
im 6'2" and I have a 86 bench seat and got myself a tilt column and It works out great for me and I still have stock wheel.
-
One thing to look at is your steering wheel. I had a small foam grip one once. It had a deeper dish than the stock and then factor in the thickness of the adapter. It put the wheel to close for me and I'm only 5'9". Might want to look into a wheel with little to no dish.

PROBLEM SOLVED ! ;D..i took out the studs on b..oth sides of the seat bottom that the top latches to..now the back rest will lay back about 2-3" against the cab...

If your seat back wasn't against the back of the cab without the seat modification you made, your seat tracks were not back all the way. It is a common problem if the PO did not have it all the way back. When I pick up a used truck I always take the seat out to clean and adjust the tracks. I also have found a lot of money over the years...
-
the seat was back far as I could get it to go....
-
if I had a tIlt column that would be even better... I have a new steering wheel with less dish coming tomorrow..
-
NEW WHEEL WITH 2" DISH...

I was able to gain a little room by loosening the 4 main bolts that hold the steering column
and sliding the column forward. There are 2 nuts under the dash and 2 nuts on a bracket
under the brake booster on the firewall, loosen all 4 of these, then sit behind the wheel
and "bump" the wheel forward with both hands. This has gained me an inch or two on my
trucks.
