Any body modify 2wd 12bolt, what have you done, looking for ideas....... thankful these are still plentiful in my area.
-
Modify for?

Heard of welding tubes and axle bracing type of stuff, basically strengthening the housing general, or maybe a crate rear end option?
Wanna stay gm based tho
-
if you're looking for strength then a Dana 60 or 14 bolt. yes they have conversion kits to make them 6 lug with disc brakes.
-
What is the intended purpose of the vehicle? If it is just a driver somethings are overkill... What are you doing with it?
-
Eventually gonna do a 500hp small block, figured gonna install true trac, stronger axles and up grade drive shaft and u joints to 1350. And a cast rear end cover with plugs, ie serviceability and housing strength. I. Have heard of welding axle tubes to prevent axle tube rotation.

Are you going to be running slicks? My truck puts 450hp and 500lb/ft to the wheel right now. Unless it becomes a track only truck (which it won't) it will hold up fine.
Welding the axles tubes generally fixes the issues with old fatigued welds.
