Title: Vacuum questions
Post by: Pescados666 on December 17, 2013, 01:58:02 am
I was checking out which vacuum lines were rotted through and found some brittle plastic as well!  I broke this, however, I'm not sure what it is called to find a replacement.

Also, while I have you here, what are the sizes to replace all the rubber vacuum lines on my quadrajet, and about how many feet of each should I order?

Thanks!

Two-way vacuum check valve.  You must have cruise control.  Here's the part from Dorman.  All the auto parts stores have it.

Yeah, except previous owner has it so hacked up it doesn't work lol.  Luckily my dad's friend used to work for Timmer's Chevrolet in the 80s and happens to have a ton of NOS parts (He said that when prepping the cars with the dealer options and whatnot he would often find tons of extra stuff from the factory, like door switches, those little plastic inserts for the door pulls that always break, tools, etc. just laying on the car's floor) and happens to have a cruise control kit :D

Thanks for the help, I'l be sure to add this to the next load of parts after I get my next paycheck!

I have to ask... why don't you have a vacuum line to your brake booster?

This truck isnt on the road is why I assume no power brake vacuum line. There is a big wad of wire just laying there anyway. Does your friend have everything, like speed sensor, servo, the cruise computer box,....I ask because I have an entire cruise setup uncut for sale.

It's not my truck in the picture actually, I just found it while reading a thread by Captkaos and thought it was a good illustration.

My friend is working out of state for a few weeks, so I'm not exactly sure what he has.  No rush on getting cruise to work anyway

Any tips on what sizes I should stock up on for the vacuum hoses?
