Post by: moregrip on December 17, 2013, 06:14:35 pm
Does anyone see any issues with running 87 cab with a 73 front end? will the older hood mount with no issues?

The 87  and 73 hood hinges are different.  Are you talking about the whole front clip or just the front headlight assy ?  If you mean the whole front clip this thread should answer and show you what is needed.

This will help explain, Capt. laid it out very well.

There isn't any "issues" other than having to get the entire front end from a donor from the doors forward.

I didn't write that article, but I have NEVER moved the front body mount on any of the ones I have done this way.

You can use an 87 cab with the rest of your 73 parts.

The newer style cab works fine with the older front end.

Where you have to fab stuff is when you try to put the 81+ front on a 73~80 cab.
