Title: 1987 5.7L V8 fuel economy
Post by: paolotvl on December 20, 2013, 11:17:44 am
I just put the first miles on my "new" 1987 Custome Deluxe 10 with the 5.7 liter V8 fuel injected. After the first 200 miles without pushing it, I'm getting about 9MPG. Is this normal? The engine seems to be running fine. Thanks for reading.

Yikes only 9, I'd say no, you should be 15 minimum, my 454 carb'd gets 13 at least

my 79 k20 with 38's 4.10 gears sm465 and 350 gets 9. make sure your tires are inflated right. keep her under 60 and you  should see a increase. unless your speedo/ odometer is wrong

The first thing i would ask is how exactly are you calculating your mpg?
