Title: Deep Rust Remedy?

Well, the old truck is back on the road and running good.
Years of salt and sitting have done their damage underneath.
Any magic potion to stop rust or other easy solution?  She's not worth a frame up resto at this point.
I probably just drive her 'til she drops...but would like to slow the process.

      There are several products that will convert rust, though you have to remember that will only do what is on the surface, it is not a cure all or stop all.  Do a search on rust converters on the internet and do a little homework on which fits your needs.
      Since you do not want to remove the rust completely and only want to slow it down, this is what I would recommend.

That rust is not too bad.  A lot of it looks like it could be chipped away?

Anyways i've had good results with Gempler's rust converter on other cars.  ( i don't drive the truck in snow OR RAIN!)

Knock off the scale with a ball peen hammer and coat her with grease .

Find some sand dunes and have a fun day getting stuck.  ;)

I've heard POR 15 is good from Eastman company too. It's one of the oldest products they have for rust I guess.

My truck is in the same condition, worse actually. Two years ago when I drove it down the road to give it some exercise a rear leaf broke (not the spring pack -one leaf) and fell out and the left rear shackle mount rusted through. So, I have plenty of work before mine will see the road again.
