Please view the following document:

Is fig.a part of the control arm or is it part of the actual ball joint?
This is an 83 c-10 2WD. Edited by: Stewart G Griffin at: 9/10/06 2:22 pm

Its part of the balljoint. If you look at your new one,you will see it.
-
OK, i got it out and pressed the new one in.
Next:
1) How to lube balljoints?
2) How often?
3) What type of grease? (please be brand specific as well)
-
You should have gotten a grease fitting with your new ball joint. Use a grease gun and grease it with any high temp chassis wheel bearing grease.
-
there should be a threaded hole on bottom of Ball Joint to screw a zerk fitting in.
