Post by: 80stepsideguy on September 29, 2006, 05:54:00 pm
Hello all,
upon receiving my frame i just got the guy talked me into buying a C notch kit.Now i plan on dropping my truck 4 inches in the rear.Do i need to notch the frame for a 4 inch drop or is for a 6 inch drop?Is it worth doing a 6 inch drop with a 4 1/2 inch drop in the front? Also if i did the 4 inch bell tech drop and a 2 inch flip kit will the ride quality go down? All info is greatly appreciated.I am plann in on doing a 4 1/2 inch drop in the front and a 4 inch drop in the rear but i like to hear all opinons on this..

thanks
pat

at a 4/4 the rear will still be 2 inches higher than the front, 4/6 will level you out. As far as a flip kit the min I think is a 5", I have a belltech 6" flip with no notch, I did cut the bump stops off the fram though.

notch for a 4" drop: no
6" drop: like lowc10 said no, but trim or remove the bumpstops
personally i don't like rakes, so i would say go for the 4/6!
no such thing as a 2" flip kit...what a flip kit does is put the axle on TOP of the leafs instead of under it.
i ran 8" drop in the rear with only 1" removed from the frame above the axle and i rarely bottomed.

As stated above if you are only going 4" you don't need the notch.  The axle is still below the springs.

If you have nasty roads you will probably want a notch at 5" or above...
