Hopefully you all can help me here. I'be recently started to restore a 76 c20 with 3 on the tree. I was having issues with it getting stuck in gear and was unable to shift. I could get it every once in a while by messing with the shifter but once I got home it wouldn't shift anymore. I know the tranny is good due to installing a floor shifter as a temp fix so I could drive it until I had the time to get it fixed. So is there any ideas out there that could help fix this issue.? I've heard of using a 3/16 drill bit but I have no clue what to look for. This is kinda of a new adventure for me.

Have you inspected the linkage to see where the binding was originating from?

hi, sorry it took my a while to reply. ive been extremely busy with work. the binding is on the column side. i have a floor shifter in for now and its working great. i put most of it back together to try to see if anything was broken but it doesnt seem and if it is and from what i can tell and feel nothing is really lose at all. i spoke to the guy i got the truck from and he said that some of the parts were welding for a short term fix. ive been trying to find a new column to put in but its seems almost impossible unless i order a brand new one. which may be the case if i cant fix it. is there a way i can check to see if the alignment was thrown off?
