Hey guys! I've been posting things here and there about my truck, thought it would be easier just to keep it all on one topic! I'm converting my c10 to a k10 with 3/4 ton axles. Possibly some kind of diesel swap later!
I have a 83 gmc Sierra c10 with a carbureted 350/npA883.

Not making much progress very fast, but it's coming along! 14 bolt is prepped and painted. Got some of the front pieces painted as well (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/10/jy3yva6a.jpg)

Got the timken wheel bearings the other day, so they will be going in this weekend. Then start on sanding and painting the frame. Decided to buy a new 6inch EZ ride suspension lift from rough country! Can't wait to start assembling things.

What's the best way to tackle this rott? Would it be easier to cut it out and replate it? Or grind rivets out and replace crossmember? If I do replace the whole thing, could I just replace then rivets with bolts?
-
Cut it out and replace it. Just use Grade 8 bolts to replace it. Nothing wrong with using bolts...

Thanks

Got the front wheel bearings in the front hubs and all the brakes bought. I'll be putting most of the front together today. Except for the lock out hubs.

Your looking off a donor vehicle. I would see if by chance someone around you is scraping one.
-
I haven't had any luck! I found a guy that wants to sell me a whole frame for 200. But it's three hours away. I'm at the point I might just do it and keep the rest if the crossmembers and scrap the frame rails.

Are there any diffrences in a k10 frame vs a k20?

Are you talking straight frame ? No, suspension yes. There is a difference between the 1 ton and 3/4, 1/2 ton if I remember right.
-
Just the frame it self. I'm buying a 3/4 ton lift for it and I already have 3/4 ton axels. I needed crossmembers for the k10 frame, but then I stumbled across this k20 that's in great shape. I wanna use it if my 83 c10 body will bolt to it with no issues. Other then a small body lift.

Finally got the bed and a883 out if the c10. Picked up a cherry picker to pull the motor. Gotta lot of work to be done in the next couple weeks. Looking like it might be moving by mid spring

It's coming alone about to paint the frame with Por15 then replace brake lines and fuel lines. Then pull motor out of c10 and start that build.

Yea came across a snag. The frames tweaked and didn't know it. The kid I bought it off, added a leaf on the passenger side rear to get around it.

Gonna call a collision place, to see if they can straighten it.
