1984 GMC 3/4 ton 2WD 454 c.i.
I'm panning on adding a second battery and am in the market for a auxiliary battery tray. I found an auxiliary tray (assuming drivers side) for 1973-80 but not one for anything newer than 1980. Has anybody added a secondary tray to their truck? Does the tray fit with little to no modification? Any other ideas or suggestions for a tray?

I think you can buy them new ,but I just picked one up in a junkyard for 3 dollars . Look in the suburbans first .

diesels should have 2 battery trays

I added a second battery to my 86 K30. Left tray came out of an 86 suburban. Bolted right in to existing holes.

I would think it would be this easy, just find the one you want either new or used and install.

If you can find a donor that would be the cheapest IF it isn't rusted out. I can get them from GM.

Finally got an OEM aux battery tray. A forum member sold it to me (thank you!).
I put a very thin smear of 3M Windo-Weld Urethene on the bottom of the supports, around the drilled holes, and on tray itself for a bit of traction and rust-paranoia.
