Title: Rides too rough
Post by: johnblanchette on October 20, 2006, 10:15:00 am
I have a 1981 Chevy Sport 1/2 ton shorty, the problem I have is that to drive this thing I need a kidney belt. If I was to remove the overload leaf out of the spring-pack how much would it drop it? As it sits it is level, so I would need to lower the front the same amount. Who makes a set of drop springs that would be a little softer?

What kind of shocks are on it?

Typically factory height trucks are a softer ride.  Is it LWB or SWB?

Dropping one with springs will make it stiffer/sportier typically.

I don't think it is factory height, next to another one it looks lifted:x . It's a short box also, I was told that it had the "heavy half" option, WTH is that?

How old are the shocks?  Why kind are they?

A heavy half is a 1/2T truck with 56" long rear springs from a 3/4T for extra carrying weight.  It won't affect the front height.
