Title: another choke light question
Post by: 46binder on January 14, 2014, 05:19:24 pm
I rebuilt my Quadrajet on my 83 K30 350, new electric choke.  PO had wire cut to choke, not hooked up.  I hooked it back up to new choke, now choke light stays on.  Choke doesn't open, I have 12V at the wire, but when its hooked on the choke, no voltage.  Oil pressure gauge is also not working its pegged to the right.  By reading past posts, is it a bad oil pressure switch causing it?

Your oil pressure switch is bad. No pressure makes the choke light stay on.

I changed the oil pressure switch today, had a brief window of time outside with it before it got dark and started snowing, again.  What a pain.  I like engines with the dizzy in the front.  My truck has cruise, doubt it works and I don't want it.  Anything I need to do to abandon it?  The line that has the wiring plug has a vacuum line attached to it that goes into the firewall.  Coil it up and zip tie it and call it a day?  I didn't get the chance to start the engine yet and test the new gauge yet, till these loose wires are out of the way.

You can, it's stand alone so it won't affect anything.
