I am currently restoring a 74 k10 4x4. It has a 203 transfer case with the 2wd conversion and the truck originally came with a th350. I am toying with replacing the tranny with a 700r4 for the over drive gear. The th350 is shot otherwise i would stick with it.
The question i have is what type of body issues will i run into if i go with the 700r4? I have heard that they are wider and taller than the 350. Is this true? Will i need to make floor modifications to the cab floor to make the 700 fit. I already know i will need to move the tranny mount back and will need to modifiy the drive shafts. Just looking to decide if this extra gear is really worth all the trouble. Not really sure i want to start hacking up the cab floor
Anyone have any insight?

The "trouble" isn't exactly a lot of trouble and well worth the investment. You won't have any fitment issues with floor clearance.

And i should be able to reuse the crossmember and the adapter plate that was used for the th350 correct?
