Title: Christine

I posted a pic of this truck before:

I've had this thing for over a year. When I bought it, it had a blown up 350 in it. It also had a 388 in the bed. I put the 388 in it and it had a vibration. I started looking and someone had put a 350 balancer and not one for a 400. I changed it out and drove it. As the truck was idling in the shop i told my buddy that it sounded like Christine from the movie. It ran good for about two weeks and then started blowing oil out everywhere. my PCV was not working. i fixed that and fixed the leaks. it ran good for another 2 weeks and the balancer came off the crank. It messed up the crank snout. There was really no explanation for why it did it. I had a fresh 350 in the shop so I put it in. It never ran more than a mile without over heating. I expected a cracked head. I had another set of heads. As I was removing the old head I noticed the heads weren't torqued. I put new gaskets and the other set of heads on the truck and promptly put it up for sale. A guy offered me an extra $100. If I would meet halfway between my house and his. It drove perfectly and ran great to the meeting spot. He looked at it, drove it, fell in love with it and paid me. He got 5 miles from home, and the thing started backfiring thru the carb and died. He got it restarted and drove another mile and heard a clanking noise and the thing went up in flames. The tensioner pulley came apart, hit the fan, pieces flew around and punctured the fuel line, and ran gas over the engine and up it went.

He told me about it and I gave him his money back. We went to pick it up today. We had just put brand new tires on the trailer. We ran over a bolt somewhere and popped a tire. Then we broke the jack trying to change out the tire.

As bad as it sounds the truck could be running again with a few parts and a little money.

I think the truck is possessed. It has fought me the whole way. It's really a shame because the truck is really quite straight and very little rust. I am done with it. I'm pulling the motor and trans. I'm going to load it back on the trailer and beat it to death with a sledgehammer then take it to the crusher and watch it being crushed.

Man. It's like someone lost a life in that truck or something. It's cursed. You are doing the right thing; take it to the crusher.

Back in the mid 90's a couple of friends and I ran a Cutlass street stock at the local 1/2 mile asphalt roundy tracks. Going in to a bye weekend we wounded the primary car so bad we had to buy a back up and get it ready in two weeks for the next race. The new car did the same ish to us the whole time we were trying to get it ready. Couldn't get the engine in. Got it in, then couldn't get the tranny in. Get it in, couldn't get the rear trailing arms to line up. Get that solved, crack a head on start up. Fix the head, can't get the intake to seal right. Pull the engine and refresh the whole thing again, cant get it to line up on the mounts again. Battery exploded. Broke a $750 Snap on porta power. Lost a seal in the engine hoist, and the A/C quit in the shop. We also named that car Christine. We were so mad we wanted to crush it. Sold it as a roller no motor/trans at the end of the season to a guy building a dirt tracker in the next state and never looked back!

I took out the motor and tranny today. Removed the windows- side, vent, and rear glass. Took off the rear bumper and receiver hitch, removed the steering gear box, and interior trim. My buddy needed the Silverado fender emblems and there is not a good way to get them off short of removing the fender, so I cut the fenders out around the emblems.
Now I have to change out wheels and tires, remove the carpet and siphon a tank of fuel out it. Then I will beat it to death with a sledge. I started hammering one bed side, I felt so much better after about 30 hits with a 3lb hammer.

Man what a bummer, shame a truck with what looks to be decent rust sheetmetal is going to the crusher.
Up here in the northeast it would be a goldmine.

It really was a straight, light rust truck. The hole you can see in the front fender was about it.  It a small area in the rocker on the inside where the door is, where a person would be stepping to get into the truck. The rest of it was solid.

No, it hasn't gone to the crusher yet. A guy stopped by and asked if I wanted to sell "that old truck". He offered $200. and I took it and asked him what his plans were. He just wanted it for parts. I explained to him that this truck was possessed. He laughed and said he'd take his chances.

Cool at least some parts will go to help another truck, squares are getting rare in my parts
